Using Japanese mulberry paper strips and the quilling technique, artist Lisa Nilsson creates breathtaking carpets that stunningly mimic the exquisite details of ornamental rugs.

Lisa’s latest artworks from her ‘Tapis Series‘ are Jardine and Gospel.

Jardine is the most ambitious piece the artist has completed, she worked on it for about eight months. It was inspired by the color and composition of an Islamic carpet. For Gospel, a piece which was inspired by an 8th-century gospel cover, Lisa used gilt-edged paper to resemble a religious book cover.
