Hand-Painted Anamorphic Images Hidden Inside A Translucent Cube

Rotating Glass Sculpture by Thomas Medicus

A Rotating Glass Sculpture

Emergence Lab” is the latest creation of Austrian artist Thomas Medicus.

The project consists of a cubic framework and six hand-painted anamorphic images spread across 216 laser-cut acrylic glass strips that are designed to perfectly align when viewed directly from each side.

Thomas explains: “Since every figure fills the exact same surface as its counterpart on the opposite side, the rear image is covered while looking at one figure.”

In order to eliminate the irritating reflections within the many cut strips, Medicus filled the cube with a silicone oil that has the same refractive index as acrylic.

Check out the video bellow to see how it works.
