Amazing Book Sculptures by Jacqueline Rush Lee
Jacqueline Rush Lee is a Hawaii based artist from Northern Ireland who makes sculptures out of books and other materials. Considered a pioneering artist in her field, Jacqueline has worked innovatively with books as her main subject matter for 17 years.
Working conceptually, and experimentally, she employs a range of practices to transform the nature of the books that she works with so that they have new narratives as poetic remnants.
Drawn to objects that record physical processes or bear imperfections and the scars of life, Jacqueline’s interest lies in the aesthetic of books as residual objects with intriguing histories of use and meaning.
“The book is simply a delivery system, and my interest is in making thought-provoking artworks from that “primary” source and creating 21st century visual “books” with new narratives that are elegant in concept and design…”
