The word ‘Mandala‘ comes from Sanskrit and means “circle.” Although it may be dominated by other geometric figures, mandalas are primarily recognizable by their concentric structure. These circular designs represent the Universe and are inspired by the abstract symmetry found in the fabric of nature. These spiritual symbols are used in various religions for meditation.
Inspired by the intricate geometry of these symbols, Cairo-based pattern artist Shayma Ezzeldin has created a set of 12 mandala designs, each having a different story to tell.
