Unchained: Dog Sculptures Made From Recycled Bicycle Chains
Back in 2010, after two decades of a successful career as a fashion designer, Israel-based multidisciplinary artist Nirit Levav decided to dedicate herself to her true passion: art.
In the last years, Levav is working mainly with recycled materials she collects: bicycle chains, motorcycle pistons, keys, light bulbs, watches, and more, from which she creates amazing artworks.
‘First of all, I collect different materials, mainly the kind people don’t want anymore. For them, it is garbage and for me – a treasure..’
In her ongoing series called ‘Unchained‘, she creates amazing life-size dog sculptures made out of recycled bicycle parts, mostly chains.
“My intention was to capture the dogs’ gentleness and sensitivity, each one and its own unique expressions, despite the use of scrap metal. Hope you’ll enjoy it. I love to make people smile through my art.”
If you like Nirit’s creations you can follow her latest work on her website. Her pieces are available for purchasing on Etsy.

These dogs seem to be waiting for the master who is probably in the war zone. I am simply loving the perfection that is brought in all of these recycled ideas no matter what material was used in making them. The bicycle chain was disassembled into single units to make this pet dog.
